Offer description

Based in the heart of Leamington Spa, Pixel Toys have spent over a decade pushing the capabilities of mobile and VR gaming. We have developed multiple award-winning titles, including: Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realm War; and we’re now excited to be exclusively working on a new game, unlike ANYTHING we’ve done previously! As a forward thinking and innovative studio we are always looking for new technologies and techniques to develop and use in our games and make them even more engaging experiences for our customers. We are excited to continue to grow our team and are always on the lookout for highly talented and motivated individuals, who are passionate about gaming and excited to join us on our ambitious journey! The Role: Join us as a Senior Game Designer at Pixel Toys and play a defining role in shaping the future of our latest title, driving the features that captivate players and solidify long-term retention. In this role you will act as a bridge between high-level vision and player reality, working within a specialised pod to translate the Game Director’s goals into systems that feel authentic, rewarding, and sustainable within a high-stakes live F2P environment. This isn't just about documentation; you will own the evolution of key features from their initial spark of a concept through to full-scale live operations, ensuring every mechanic works both as a creative triumph and a commercial success. Your day-to-day will resemble a masterclass in cross-discipline collaboration, as you partner with Engineering, UX, Art, Audio, and QA to bring complex features to life. You will be the person making the thoughtful calls, balancing immediate player value against production realities and long-term game health, while representing the product vision to the wider team. Beyond your immediate pod, you will act as a force multiplier for the studio, spotting opportunities to refine the player journey, pitching quality-of-life improvements, and helping other teams polish their ideas until they shine. You will also serve as our eyes and ears on the ground, keeping a relentless watch on the mobile market and player behavior. By synthesising live data and industry trends, you will validate your ideas and evolve features over time to ensure the game remains a leader in its genre. Once a feature is live, you won't just move on; you will track performance, respond to player feedback with agility, and iterate quickly to keep the experience fresh and engaging. This is a role for a designer who wants to be more than a contributor, but also a guardian of quality and a primary driver of our game’s success. About you: You will join us as a systems-thinking powerhouse with a deep understanding of midcore mobile games, particularly RPGs, possessing a sophisticated understanding of how to weave together progression systems and long-term engagement. As a master of the F2P (Free-to-Play) landscape, you will possess a sharp intuition for economy design, monetisation loops, and the product KPIs that define a hit title. Having successfully navigated the full lifecycle of feature development from a blank page to a live global audience, you know exactly how to translate ambitious product goals into clear, actionable designs that your team can rally behind. You are also an elite communicator who can articulate design solutions with surgical precision, whether you are debating high-level strategic goals or the granular details of system behavior. You are well-versed in moving seamlessly between disciplines, helping engineers and artists align on scope while keeping your specifications practical and punchy. On top of this, your technical foundation is backed by a solid understanding of UI/UX principles and player-centered design, and you are comfortable diving into game engines like Unity to see your vision through. Above all, you are a leader in waiting. You bring a proactive, high-energy presence to the team and have a natural talent for mentoring others and guiding feature teams toward excellence. You stay ahead of the curve by analysing market trends and bringing fresh, validated ideas to the table that keep our products competitive. You're someone who doesn't just "look" at data; you use it to tune systems and guide design decisions that result in truly meaningful player experiences, ensuring that Pixel Toys doesn't just deliver a game, but delivers the absolute best experiences the industry has to offer. What can Pixel Toys offer: At Pixel Toys we are proud of the progressive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment we have created; a place where everyone has the opportunity to be themselves and is welcomed and valued for who they are and what they contribute. We have some fantastic benefits we offer our employees… Here are just some of them: Competitive salary, reviewed annually 25 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays Discretionary Bonus Scheme Up to 3 additional long service days (duvet days!) Private Medical Insurance (including optical and dental) Company Pension scheme Death in Service benefit Regular socials including epic summer and Christmas parties! Staff training and development Quarterly Wellness days (On-site massages and more) Flexi-time working hours Recruitment selection is based on skills, experience and a good Pixel Toys mission and values fit.
