Roles Available in Location: Montrose, Barnard Castle, Worthing, Ware
Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be currently studying an IMechE accredited undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK or ROI university for the duration of your placement. If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: July 2026
Duration: 1 year (approximately)
Salary: A salary of £25,400 plus a bonus.

Role 1 – Mechanical Engineering - Montrose
Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required
Overview of the Department
GSK Montrose manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for respiratory, dermatological and HIV conditions. The Production Engineering team supports five manufacturing areas and focuses on maintenance, efficiency, operability and plant reliability, while supporting utilities and infrastructure strategy under GMP guidance.

Barnard Castle supports a range of products and focuses on equipment improvement, reliability and production performance. Placement students may be based in production or site operations teams.

Role 3 – Mechanical Engineering - Worthing

Overview of the Department
Multiple mechanical engineering opportunities at Worthing, in manufacturing, packaging, utilities and facilities, focusing on GMP-critical systems, high-speed packaging lines and reliability programs to meet quality and EHS standards.

Ware sites include Packing, Assembly, Frontend Engineering, MSAT, Utilities & Facilities, and OSD Engineering, covering maintenance of packaging lines, device assembly, high-level platform improvements, and NPI-related equipment upgrades and root cause analyses.
