Support workers enable older clients to continue living independently in their own homes by assisting with domestic tasks.
Tasks
Requirements of a support worker:
* A caring and empathetic attitude
* The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
* Good listening and communication skills
* The ability to understand and follow policies and procedures
* Good writing skills to complete documentation
* You will need a smartphone to download work apps
* Access to a car and valid business insurance, as this role is community-based
Responsibilities of a support worker:
To undertake a wide range of domestic tasks for older people in their own homes according to their individual needs and wishes.
Outline of Duties:
* General domestic duties, shopping, medical appointments, social activities
* Cooperate with the service user's carers, relatives, and health service workers, maintaining flexibility in the services provided
* Be punctual and reliable
* Report any concerns for the wellbeing of the service user to the Service Coordinator, especially urgent or serious issues
* Be flexible to the service user's preferences on how work is carried out
* Maintain high standards consistently
* Adhere to confidentiality principles
