Overview
An opportunity has arisen for Registered Nurses with an interest in Women\'s Health to join the Gynaecology Assessment Unit (GAU) and Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) at the Royal Derby Hospital. We are looking for compassionate, highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for caring for women undergoing a range of early pregnancy complications and gynaecology issues. The service ethos is to provide time-critical rapid assessment of women working in close liaison with our ED, midwifery and GP colleagues. The successful candidate ideally should have knowledge and experience of gynaecology and early pregnancy management and treatment pathways. Our unit delivers specialist, evidence-based, holistic care to women with early pregnancy complications and emergency gynaecological conditions in an environment that supports patient choice and dignity.
Our team consists of consultant gynaecologists, senior sister, specialist nurses, registered nurses, health care support workers and receptionists. The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgmental, caring and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognises and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity. They will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students and trainees and agencies, service users, their carers and families. The post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and will be responsible for completing any work based training associated with the role. You will liaise closely with the senior team to ensure efficient and effective bi-directional communication, in order to deliver a high quality service to the patient and their relatives. You will also contribute to the professional development of junior staff within the department and enhance their skills as a role model. The post holder will work according to the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour and relevant professional guidelines and be accountable for their own professional actions.
Responsibilities
* Provide time-critical rapid assessment of women with early pregnancy complications and emergency gynaecological conditions in collaboration with ED, midwifery and GP colleagues.
* Collaborate with MDT to plan and deliver holistic care, ensuring patient choice and dignity.
* Work within GAU/EPAU to deliver evidence-based care and adhere to Trust policies and guidelines.
* Support and mentor junior staff; contribute to practice development within the clinical setting.
* Maintain professional standards in line with the NMC Code of Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC) with current registration and ongoing professional development.
* Knowledge and experience of gynaecology and early pregnancy management and treatment pathways preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Shifts and Conditions
We work 7 days a week. Shifts available are Monday - Friday 08:30 - 19:00, Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00, Saturday and Sunday 08:30 - 16:30.
