Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School (Fareham) – Permanent

Role Summary – What the LSA Will Do
As an LSA, you will play a key part in ensuring that students with special educational needs or additional needs can access the full curriculum and thrive within the school community. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting key children across the week, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), which may include needs such as autism spectrum condition, learning difficulties, social, emotional or mental health needs, speech and language needs, or other educational and support needs ensuring they access lessons, support and interventions tailored to them.
* Working alongside class teachers in mainstream lessons to support inclusion, help children engage in classwork, scaffold learning, and promote independence.
* Supporting small-group work and delivering targeted interventions for students requiring additional support with literacy, numeracy, or other curriculum areas.
* Helping to foster a safe, inclusive, supportive environment where all students feel valued, included and able to achieve their potential.
* Encouraging the school’s values of kindness, ambition and diligence in everyday interactions, and contributing positively to the school’s inclusive, aspirational culture.
About You – Person Specification
We are ideally looking for someone who has:
* Some experience working in a school or similar educational /support setting (though this is not essential). The school welcomes applications from those seeking a long-term career in education, so if you have enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you.
* A genuine commitment to helping all students succeed, including those with additional or special needs.
* Patience, empathy, adaptability and good communication skills, able to work well with teachers, support staff, students, and when relevant, parents guardians.
* A team-oriented approach, supporting class teachers and the wider school community.
* A commitment to upholding the school’s core values of kindness, ambition and diligence, and promoting inclusion, respect, and equal opportunity.

* Start date: From the new year
* Interview dates: To take place over the next week
