The Role
As Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the firm meets all regulatory and legal obligations. You will work closely with senior management to maintain a robust compliance framework and promote a culture of ethical practice across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee and manage the firm's compliance with SRA regulations and other relevant legislation
2. Act as a key point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors
3. Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures
4. Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits
5. Manage AML and KYC processes, ensuring best practice is followed
6. Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters
7. Monitor and report on compliance performance, highlighting risks and recommending improvements
8. Assist with file reviews and handle any compliance breaches or issues
About You
9. Previous experience in a compliance role within a law firm
10. Strong knowledge of SRA regulations, AML, and GDPR
11. Experience acting as COLP and/or COFA (desirable but not essential)
12. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
13. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
14. Proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused approach
