Position: Senior Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Preston, Lancashire, UK
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
1. Develop EC&I drawings: Block Cable Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, etc.
2. Produce cable calculations manually or using Amtech, and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux.
3. Review and ensure design deliverables meet high standards and comply with internal and client procedures.
4. Create technical documents such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, and Method Statements.
5. Own design deliverables throughout all project phases, maintaining design intent.
6. Produce and review CDM Risk Registers and documentation for Technical Files of new products and equipment.
7. Present technical solutions to clients and teams in various settings.
8. Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs.
9. Support development of project safety cases, including HAZID and HAZOP attendance and safety documentation.
10. Develop estimates, deliverables, and program logic at bid/tender stage, including cost estimates.
11. Manage and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
12. Build and maintain relationships with client and partner organizations.
13. Assess concessions and technical queries, and review quality plans for work packages.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum 5+ years’ industry experience, with at least 2 years at Engineer level, preferably in nuclear or highly regulated sectors.
* Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
* Chartered Member of the IET (preferred).
* Legal eligibility to work in the UK.
* Knowledge of standards, regulations, and codes applicable to EC&I design.
* Proven expertise in EC&I design principles and practices.
* Experience with Technical Files for new products/plant and equipment.
* Design experience compliant with IET 18th edition (BS7671).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of CAE packages.
