The Role
As a Mechanical Quality Inspector, you will carry out a range of inspections to ensure our parts meet strict dimensional and visual standards. Reporting to the Head of Quality, you will take ownership of inspection activities on your shift and work closely with production, engineering, and management to maintain and improve quality performance.
This position requires a confident, process-driven individual with the ability to interpret technical drawings, lead inspection routines, and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections on machined parts.
* Use a range of tools including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and CMMs.
* Program and operate CMM equipment where applicable.
* Read and understand complex engineering drawings and apply GD&T.
* Ensure work complies with AS9100 Rev D and internal quality procedures.
* Complete and maintain FAIRs, PPAPs, SPC data, APQP, and control plans.
* Support root cause and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why, and Ishikawa tools.
* Record inspection results accurately using Microsoft Office tools.
* Coordinate inspection activities during your shift.
* Work collaboratively with quality and production teams.
* Promote continuous improvement in quality processes and culture.
What You Bring
* Strong background in a subcontract CNC machining environment.
* Proven ability to lead and coordinate inspection processes.
* Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T.
* Proficiency in using mechanical inspection tools and CMM equipment.
* Solid experience with AS9100 quality standards and documentation.
* Calm, methodical approach with a keen eye for detail.
* Confident communicator with good written and verbal skills.
Preferred Experience
* Experience with RCCA tools (8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa).
* Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Familiarity with programming CMMs.
