On behalf of the Infected Blood Compensation Authority (Cabinet Office), we are looking for 14 Claim Support Officers for a 3 months contract. The position is Hybrid - Newcastle (3 days a week in the office and the rest from home).
The government has accepted the moral case for a compensation scheme to address the hurt caused by the infected blood scandal, as highlighted by the Infected Blood Inquiry (IBI). The Infected Blood Compensation Authority will ensure that compensation is paid to those infected with HIV, Hepatitis B or C, and those who care for them, recognizing the wrongs experienced.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the organization and develop the compensation service, working with operations and data teams as part of a multi-functional team. You will need to be adaptable, innovative, resilient, and detail-oriented to navigate uncertainty and build our service with the claimant at the center.
As a Claim Support Officer, your main responsibilities will include:
1. Managing an allocated caseload to ensure high-quality work;
2. Gathering and reviewing evidence to compile claim files, supporting claim managers to work efficiently, and adhering to guidance and quality standards;
3. Communicating professionally with individuals via multiple channels to build trusting relationships;
4. Working within tight timescales and adapting to requests from service users and IBCA employees to meet shared goals;
5. Supporting re-examination of claims and preparing cases for appeals to His Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service;
6. Reviewing, searching, retrieving, and transferring documents and records safely, in compliance with standards;
7. Demonstrating competent computer skills, including navigating document management systems and conducting searches across systems;
8. Working effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks, adapting quickly, and maintaining accuracy under pressure.
