Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a special interest in Gynaecological Oncology is sought for a permanent, full‑time position at James Paget University Hospital. The role involves providing specialist obstetric and gynaecological care, participating in a multidisciplinary on‑call rota, and leading the development of cancer pathways.
Responsibilities
* Share obstetric and gynaecology workload with consultant colleagues, including out‑of‑hours on‑call duties.
* Provide obstetric and gynaecological advice to other medical specialties as required.
* Maintain governance, continuing professional development (CPD) and teaching responsibilities.
* Work with the Gynaecology‑Oncology MDT to run triage, rapid access, MDT outcome and oncology follow‑up clinics.
* Enhance cancer pathways, lead new pathway development with the MDT and support senior management in shaping service strategy.
* Participate in the non‑resident on‑call rota (currently 1 in 10 weekend shifts and 1 in 12 weekday shifts). The on‑call frequency may change with recruitment.
* Commit to full obstetric and gynaecology service provision, ensuring high quality obstetric care while focusing on gynaecological oncology.
Essential Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent basic medical degree.
* MRCOG (or equivalent) and certification within six months of completion of training or eligibility for the UK Specialist Register at interview.
* Full GMC registration.
Desirable Qualifications
* MD/PhD.

* Expert clinical opinion across a wide range of obstetric and gynaecological problems.
* Leadership and management skills with experience in departmental development.
* Willingness to lead and participate in multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in high‑risk pregnancy and independent management of obstetric and emergency gynaecology.
* Use of research outcomes and evidence‑based medicine to support decision making.
Desirable Experience & Knowledge
* Committee work or project management experience.
* Experience leading preterm prevention or one‑stop clinics.
* Experience conducting service development projects in obstetrics.
* Experience in multidisciplinary management of mental disorders in pregnancy.
* Participation in the TOP service.
* Advanced laparoscopic surgical skills.
* Involvement in research projects and published papers.
