Job Title: Supply Chain Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (Plus Bonus)
A well established Timber product Manufacturer company, importing and distributing softwood, hardwood and sheet materials to the UK market. This Supply Chain Manager role exists to provide strategic leadership across supply chain operations, ensuring procurement, inventory, transport and sales order processes effectively support long-term growth. Reporting at a senior level, the role would suit an experienced supply chain leader with strong commercial awareness, people leadership capability and a focus on operational excellence. The position offers board‑level support, genuine influence over strategy and the opportunity to shape systems, processes and performance across a complex supply chain.
As a Supply Chain Manager you will:
Lead and manage the supply chain management team covering sales, procurement and transport
Design and implement SOPs for sales and purchase order processing to improve efficiency and quality
Set, monitor and improve KPIs including OTIF, inventory accuracy, inventory turns and supplier compliance
Drive improvements to achieve OTIF and inventory accuracy targets of 99%
Oversee inventory management, including third‑party warehouse operations
Develop demand forecasting tools and collaborate with sales on mid‑ to long‑term planning
Manage supplier relationships, negotiations and performance evaluation
Provide accurate reporting and insight to senior leadership and executive teamsExperience Required:
Proven experience leading a purchasing or supply chain function
Strong negotiation skills with a focus on total commercial value
Experience driving change and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment
Sound understanding of procurement's role within a wider organisation
Demonstrated ability to analyse data and translate it into operational plans
Experience managing and developing teams
High standard of verbal and written communication
Health & Safety qualificationDesirable:
Experience managing ERP systems and maintaining data integrity
Exposure to operational excellence or "best in class" improvement programmes
Experience working with third‑party logistics or warehouse providersAdditional Information:
Senior leadership role with direct engagement at executive and board level
Responsibility for H&S culture, including application of IOSH Managing Safely principles
Ownership of supplier evaluation frameworks covering regulatory, quality and financial criteria
Involvement in strategic growth and long‑term business planningKey Skills Required:
