College Nurse Job Types: Full time, Permanent Hours: 30 per week Salary: £35,373 - £45,123 per year Location : Billingshurst Job Scope: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate College Nurse to support adult students in an educational setting. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health and wellbeing of students, overseeing their healthcare needs, and delivering evidence-based, high-quality care in collaboration with professionals across health, education, and social care. As a College Nurse, you will manage a caseload of students, developing and delivering tailored healthcare plans to meet individual needs. You will provide staff training and guidance, oversee medicines management, and respond effectively to both day-to-day health requirements and medical emergencies. Working alongside teaching staff, social care colleagues, and external specialists, you will ensure a holistic and student-focused approach to care. The College Nurse will also contribute to safeguarding, compliance, and regulatory requirements, while supporting the leadership of the nursing team within the college. You will maintain accurate health records, liaise with parents and guardians, and take part in assessments for prospective student placements. Do you have? About The Role: Salutem Care and Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate College Nurse to join our team supporting adult students. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our students, overseeing their healthcare needs, and delivering evidence-based, high-quality care in collaboration with a wide range of professionals. As a College Nurse, you will manage a caseload of students and take responsibility for the assessment, planning, and delivery of individualised healthcare plans tailored to their unique needs. You will work closely with healthcare professionals, teaching staff, and social care colleagues to ensure a holistic approach to care. A key part of the role will include maintaining accurate health records, supporting parents and guardians with clear communication, and liaising with external stakeholders to provide continuity of care. You will also assist the Clinical Lead and Registered Manager with the organisation and leadership of the college’s nursing team. Your key responsibilities will include: • Processing assessment information and creating care plans that meet individual needs. • Reviewing and monitoring standards of care to ensure the promotion of evidence-based practice in line with local and national guidance. • Liaising and communicating effectively with a wide range of health, education, and social care professionals. • Updating and maintaining nursing notes, including liaising with external professionals using systems within Salutem Care and Education. • Maintaining effective communication with parents, guardians, stakeholders, and advocates. • Providing staff with training and guidance to ensure they understand and can support students’ individual care needs. • Overseeing and implementing medicines management in line with policy, ensuring safe, legal, and effective practice. • Supporting staff competency development and providing daily practice guidance. • Ensuring accurate and timely record keeping at all times. • Delegating tasks appropriately and monitoring outcomes to ensure safe and effective care delivery. • Challenging poor standards of care when necessary and supporting management of performance issues. • Preparing clear and detailed nursing reports when required. • Managing unwell students in college, including communication with key individuals in their circle of support. • Responding effectively to medical emergencies, ensuring plans are in place and actions are reviewed. • Organising clinics and specialist visits in collaboration with appropriate staff, parents, and carers. • Taking part in the assessment of prospective student placements to ensure their healthcare needs can be met. • Working in accordance with NMC Guidelines and professional codes of conduct. • Collaborating constructively across departments to implement Salutem’s strategic direction. • Demonstrating a commitment to excellence and supporting positive outcomes in regulatory inspections. Though the role is working with adults having someone who is paediatric and adults trained would be considered – useful for working across the entire site. Any information regarding the post qualifying experience required? Would the site consider experienced Medical or Surgical Nurses that wish to transition into a college setting? Would depend on experience and transferrable skills. The weekly working hours with any weekend working? Believed to be 8:30 – 4:30 What is the approximate size of the caseload of students. 12-15 students As this is working within an education setting, is this permanent and what will the nurse be doing outside of school hours? Permenent role – would be doing paperwork/training for school staff/CPD. It's advertised at £18.14 to £23.14. this this a range based on experience, or is £18.14 the pro-rata salary based on it being 30 hours per week, term time only? I am waiting for the full breakdown, the colleague who posted the role is currently on AL so will obtain this once back. I would assume this is the FTO equivalent. I have updated ad to £35373 - £45123 Per Annum What the job actually is, like what the day to day is like Ensuring medication is being administered correctly, training for staff, doing checks on MAR charts, liasiing with GP, hospitals. How much of the role is direct clinical care versus administrative tasks (care plans, records, etc.)? 60/40 (clinical vs administrative tasks) this is a rough estimate. What support staff or systems are in place (other nurses, HCAs, administrators)? Support staff who are trained to deliver delegated healthcare tasks in line with Salutem policy of which tasks can be delegated. What career progression opportunities exist for a College Nurse within Salutem? Could progress to Lead Nurse/ Clinical Lead for Salutem Is the role based at one site, or does it require travel between locations? One site
