Job Title: Non-Teaching Head of Year with DSL Responsibilities Location: Queen Mary’s High School, Walsall Contract: Permanent, 37 hours/week (Term Time 2 weeks) Salary: NJC Grade 6 (SCP 15–23), Actual: £25,939–£29,749 About the School: Queen Mary’s High School is an academically selective girls’ grammar school with a co-educational sixth form, located in the heart of Walsall. Key Responsibilities: Lead the pastoral care, personal development, and academic monitoring of a designated year group. Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), supporting the DSL in all aspects of safeguarding and child protection. Be a key contact for safeguarding concerns, maintaining records and liaising with external agencies as needed. Foster a positive, inclusive culture and promote high standards of behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing. Support students at risk, work closely with parents and staff, and lead year group assemblies and tutor programmes. Essential Requirements: GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4), A Levels. Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation and procedures. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and high standards.
