Overview

As part of our recruitment process for this bailiff vacancy, we aim to support candidates by sharing interview questions in advance. If you are selected for interview, you will receive the questions relating to the assessed behaviours when we notify you that you are required to book your interview slot. This will help you prepare and reflect on relevant examples from your experience. During the interview, the panel will ask follow-up questions to explore your responses in more depth and gain further insight into your skills and experience. Please note that strengths-based questions will not be shared in advance.

Role and Responsibilities

Your role includes delivering various documents across our designated area for companies, individuals in companies, and for people in their homes. You will visit people in their homes and businesses, explain why you are visiting, discuss available options, and help resolve matters with empathy and professionalism. You should be able to plan your days, manage your workload, and adapt to changes at short notice. You may be required to work independently or as part of a team and may use a company-provided or lease car after probation, with a UK driving licence being essential. You will receive PPE and safety training and will be expected to use IT and court case management systems as part of your duties.

Working Patterns and Eligibility

Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns where they meet the needs of the role and business requirements. Applications for part-time working will be considered, with a minimum of 30 hours per week over 4 days. Details about hybrid working arrangements will be discussed and agreed with successful candidates, with a minimum expectation to spend 60% of working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity. The nearest viable office will be assigned based on home postcode, with related pay scales.

Note: This role requires legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom. The Government procedures for visas and sponsorship are described in the role documentation. If applicable, eligibility checks and visa requirements will be assessed during the vetting process.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria include:

* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
* Commitment to providing high-quality service
* Ability to handle difficult conversations and provide clear information
* Empathy for court users and the ability to remain professional
* Ability to plan, prioritise, and adapt to changing circumstances
* Comfort with IT and training on court case management systems
* A full UK driving licence
