Job Description:
Within the Decommissioning and Dismantling (D&D) discipline, you will participate in core D&D engineering tasks and activities, ranging from decommissioning planning, design, and waste handling studies to dismantling, demolition, and delicensing tasks.
The four core pillars of the D&D disciplines are:
* Retrievals
* POCO
* Investigations and Characterisations
* Dismantling and Demolition
Requirements
You will be responsible for delivering innovative engineering solutions to decommissioning challenges both across the UK and internationally.
Accountabilities
As a Decommissioning and Dismantling Engineer, you will be involved in various specialist tasks, including:
* Optioneering and Feasibility Studies
* Data collection, conditioning, and validation
* Development of multi-phase decommissioning plans
* Development of Decommissioning Flow Diagrams
* Scheduling and sequencing
* Throughput modelling
* Bespoke Studies
* Post-Operational Clean Out (POCO) Planning
* Investigation and Characterisation Planning
* Dismantling and Size Reduction Planning and Design
* Preparation of Method Statements and Design Risk Assessments
* Supporting Hazard Identification processes (e.g., HAZOP and HAZID)
* Preparation of tender documents and technical responses for decommissioning works
Preferred Role Requirements
The D&D team encourages diversity of thought and welcomes applications from candidates with transferable skills applicable to nuclear decommissioning projects. There are no strict minimum role requirements; candidates will be assessed individually.
The preferred requirements include:
* BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng in nuclear engineering, decommissioning, waste management, or related engineering fields (preferably with nuclear specialization)
* Experience in nuclear decommissioning, waste management, nuclear operations, power generation, or similar highly regulated industries
* Willingness to obtain security clearance
* At least 3 years of professional engineering or technical experience
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, with an additional day off for each year of service capped at 5
* One professional membership subscription paid for by the company
