Brief Description
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Project Planner to support the successful delivery of projects within Network Rail. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules, ensuring that programmes are realistic, achievable, and aligned with organisational objectives. They should be confident working with planning software, able to provide accurate progress reporting, and skilled at identifying risks or delays. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, and wider stakeholders to keep projects on track.

About the team..
Engineering Services is a function within Route Services. We sit as a central team to provide national skills and activities which enable regions and industry partners to deliver the railway for our customers.
As a large central functional team which focus on engineering delivery, we have many roles, ranging from pure engineering to project management. We design and influence every part of the railway, including structures, track, traction power, level crossings, signalling and accessibility schemes which are essential to keep our stations moving.
What does the average day look like?
No two days are quite the same, but as a Project Planner you'll play a key role at the heart of the project delivery team. You'll be working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to share information, build realistic schedules, and make sure plans are achievable and aligned to project goals. A typical day could see you preparing and updating detailed programmes, monitoring progress, and spotting risks or delays before they become issues. You'll review contractor plans, check performance against key milestones, and ensure resources are in place to keep everything on track. Above all, you'll provide clear, accurate insights that support the team in making confident decisions and successfully delivering projects.
Essential Criteria
* Relevant experience in the successful scheduling of engineering projects.
* Knowledge of railway investment planning systems.
* Experience of using a number of project management scheduling tools & techniques

* Membership of a relevant professional body
* Understanding of the engineering requirements of work on the railway
* Six Sigma Yellow Belt
