Compliance & Enforcement Officer Permanent x2 posts PO1 - £41,442 - £44,331 36 Hours The private rented sector plays a very important role in Enfield’s strategic approach to meeting housing need. Enfield Council is committed to work in partnership with private rented sector landlords to improve and maintain high standards of accommodation and professional management, and provide good quality housing. Enfield has a borough wide additional and large selective licensing schemes to help us to deal with private rented homes where safety standards are not being met and where properties are not being properly managed. Enfield Council is looking for experienced housing standards practitioners to join our established Private Rented Housing team as Compliance and Enforcement Officers. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection and investigation of suspected unlicensed properties and HMOs, gathering evidence and preparing legal case files for civil proceedings and prosecutions. You will have knowledge and experience of using legislation to take enforcement action and conduct criminal investigations, with an understanding of court procedures and providing expert evidence. The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding and experience of private sector housing and property licensing, specifically HMO and property inspections, and the enforcement and regulatory functions within the Housing Act 2004 and landlord and tenant law. You will need a proactive approach, be driven and have the ability to remain effective when faced with difficult and demanding situations and people. Excellent communication skills and experience working in partnership with external agencies and other key partners are essential.
