Overview
Occupational Therapist - Band 6 • Full time, Permanent role
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing? Do you want to be part of the future of Mental Health Support Teams for Schools/Colleges?
We have brand-new roles for the Coventry and Warwickshire Mental Health in Schools Teams (MHST). MHSTs are an early intervention and prevention service that supports the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children, young people and families who are linked to schools and college settings. We are growing rapidly and are in a time of development and expansion as we aim to support 100% of schools by 2029/30. MHSTs offer three kinds of support.
* Individual, 1:1 and small-group targeted interventions for young people with mild-to-moderate mental health needs.
* Fostering and developing a whole-school approach to mental well-being in collaboration with key school staff.
* Advice, consultation and signposting to schools and other professionals.
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust has a vision for our MHSTs which includes exciting new opportunities for registered Occupational Therapists with experience of working with young people and mental health difficulties. If you have a passion to build positive relationships and a curiosity to respond to the developmental and mental health needs of our children and young people in educational settings, these roles may be for you.
To work within The Mental Health in Schools Team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Therapy (OT) interventions to children and young people (CYP) experiencing mild to moderate mental health needs within educational settings, in line with local and national guidelines. To actively contribute to a whole-school approach to wellbeing, with a focus on enhancing occupational performance and executive functioning. The post holder will supervise and provide oversight for junior staff delivering OT-based group work and one-to-one interventions, ensuring clinical quality, effectiveness, and consistency across the team.
At Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT), we deliver a wide range of physical, mental health, learning disability and autism services, and are proud to serve communities across Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond.
