Job Description
The Operations Manager will play a central role in resource management, process implementation, site support, logistics, and health & safety reporting. Acting as a bridge between senior leadership, site management, and project teams, this role ensures ACT's operational standards are consistently met across all projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Resource Management
* Respond to labour requests, allocating the correct people for each job.
* Organise wet trades team (plasterers/renderers).
* Act as line manager for the Decorations Manager.
* Lead labour forecasting: analyse future needs, plan ahead, and work with the People team to onboard workers.
* Review and approve overtime requests.
Health & Safety (H&S) Support
* Produce monthly H&S reports for Directors in PowerPoint.
* Implement and manage Procore reporting tools to capture H&S data.
* Ensure accuracy and quality of H&S data submitted.
* Assist H&S Manager in identifying trends, reviewing KPIs, and developing action plans.
* Distribute monthly reports, meeting minutes, and actions to Directors.
* Create and issue the monthly
H&S Snapshot
and mandatory Toolbox Talks.
* Review Near Misses & Incident reports weekly via Procore; escalate issues to H&S Manager or Site Management as needed.
* Support ad hoc H&S projects assigned by the H&S Manager.
Site Foreman & Management Support
* Provide ongoing support to Site Managers and Foremen.
* Carry out onboarding for new Foremen, including induction, day plans, and annual reviews.
* Support Site Management in creating action plans and attending performance reviews.
* Guide managers and foremen through ACT's career pathways framework.
Process Support & Implementation
* Maintain a strong understanding of ACT's operational processes.
* Review existing processes and create new ones as required.
* Provide support and training to site teams on best practices.
* Conduct quality assurance of processes, ensuring they meet ACT standards (via Procore tools).
Site-Based Activities
* Attend sites regularly to conduct walkthroughs with a focus on Presentation, Quality, and Health & Safety.
* Complete Site Presentation Inspections via Procore.
* Raise and assign observations to site teams during visits.
Logistics
* Manage the ACT driver and logistics support.
* Assist in logistics planning across sites.
* Support implementation and management of the Equipment Tools.
Procore Reporting & Analytics
* Develop Procore reports for each site to feed into monthly meetings.
* Regularly review Procore tool use to ensure compliance with ACT standards.
* Create 'Act Project Health' presentations and reports for new projects.
Job Requirements
* NEBOSH General Certificate
(desirable).
* IOSH Managing Safely (advantageous).
* Demonstrable
hands-on construction site experience
is highly desirable – a background working directly on site or supporting site teams.
* Evidence of formal training or CPD in construction operations, safety management, or process improvement.
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Strong background in construction operations and workforce management.
* Proven experience in resource planning and site logistics.
* Solid understanding of Health & Safety procedures and reporting.
* Experience using Procore or similar project management tools.
* Excellent organisational, planning, and analytical skills.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
