Buyer - IT Procurement (AWS / Software)

About the Role
Our client are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our IT Procurement team, focusing on indirect procurement and AWS (Amazon Web Services) software and cloud solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a leading defence and security organisation, supporting critical IT transformation and innovation projects across the business.
As a Buyer, you'll be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement lifecycle of IT software and cloud services - from sourcing and supplier management to negotiation, compliance, and contract execution. You'll ensure best value for money, drive efficiency, and maintain alignment with commercial, legal, and cyber governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the procurement of AWS products and other software licences, subscriptions, and IT-related services.
Manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms, and monitor performance against SLAs and KPIs.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (IT, Cyber Security, Legal, Finance, and Project Teams) to understand business needs and deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions.
Support IT category strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and defence-sector compliance standards.
Ensure all procurement activity meets the clients ethical, legal, and governance requirements.
Manage RFQs, RFPs and competitive tender processes as required.
Track spend and savings performance, delivering continuous improvement in supplier value and service delivery.Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience in IT procurement, ideally with exposure to AWS and cloud-based software.
Strong knowledge of indirect buying, software licensing, and supplier frameworks.
Commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate effectively and manage multiple complex contracts.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence and collaborate across technical and commercial teams.
Understanding of procurement within regulated or secure environments (Defence, Aerospace, Government) is highly desirable.
