Nestled in the heart of the South Downs, The Woodcote is a boutique country retreat offering refined dining and elegant guest accommodation. We pride ourselves on warm hospitality, attention to detail, and creating memorable experiences for every client. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Front of House Assistant to join our close-knit team. This is a key role in welcoming guests, ensuring seamless service, and upholding the high standards for which The Woodcote is known.
Key Responsibilities
* Extend a genuine and professional welcome to all guests, ensuring their experience begins with warmth and care.
* Manage reservations and the booking system efficiently, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
* Provide informed recommendations about our seasonal menus, wine list and local attractions.
* Handle guest inquiries with professionalism and discretion.
* Support the smooth running of the restaurant and guest areas by maintaining exceptional cleanliness and presentation.
* Communicate effectively with kitchen, bar, and service teams to ensure an impeccable flow of service.
* Assist with the setup and service of private dining, celebrations, and events as needed.
* Consistently uphold health, safety, and hygiene standards.
What We're Looking For
* Previous hospitality or customer service experience is desirable but not essential — training will be provided.
* Excellent communication skills with a naturally warm and approachable manner.
* Confidence in multitasking and thriving under pressure in a busy, high-end environment.
* Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
* Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* A genuine passion for great service, food, and guest experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £12.50-£14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 35 per week
