General Practitioner – HMP YOI Werrington

We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at HMP YOI Werrington, a male juvenile prison supporting 118 patients located in Werrington, Staffordshire. In this role, you will deliver GP clinics covering minor acute needs, minor injuries, and some long‑term conditions such as asthma.
Hours
3 clinics per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). Site offers flexibility with start and end times of sessions.
Salary
This part‑time role offers an annual salary between £119,140 and £129,500 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients.
* Provide clinical assessment and diagnosis and make timely decisions regarding management.
* Act as a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team.
* Have active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.
* Provide medical leadership and expert advice to the wider healthcare team.
* Deliver effective patient care, develop high levels of communication, identify and use evidence‑based best practice, and undertake clinical audit to improve outcomes.
* Inspire and develop positive collaborative working relationships across the multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective clinical governance in day‑to‑day practice.
* Promote multidisciplinary discussions around complex case management, establish systems for managing results, letters, and tasks, and undertake clinical risk assessments with management strategies.
* Share and disseminate knowledge with all team members through development sessions, governance meetings, or clinical case reviews.
Qualifications & Requirements
* MBChB or MBBS
* Included on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or willingness to undertake these qualifications
* Legal right to work in the UK; role subject to additional vetting and security checks
Additional Requirements
Disclosure and Barring Service check required; subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
