The Role
* A leading UK engineering consultancy is hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer for their Birmingham office
* They will deliver mechanical building services designs across a range of complex projects
* The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and team development
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver mechanical designs across varied project scales
* Act as the main client point of contact, building strong, long‑term relationships
* Take ownership of project briefs, ensuring quality, profitability, and timely delivery
* Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams and manage internal resources
* Monitor project budgets and report on cost and resourcing
* Support bids and promote the consultancy’s full service offering
* Mentor engineers and support team development
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer within consultancy
* Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
* Experience working in multi‑disciplinary environments
* Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant design tools
* Solid understanding of British Standards and UK regulations
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
