The Role

NHS Lanarkshire Cancer Nursing Service are seeking applications for highly motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic registered nurses to join their Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist Team. Experienced registered nurses who are committed to providing quality evidence based cancer care with a personal commitment to life long learning aligned to the NES NMAHP framework and ACCEND, are welcomed to apply.

The role of the Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist is highly specialised, these positions provide cancer service across NHS Lanarkshire which comprises of three district general hospitals providing comprehensive person centred cancer care. Coordination of the complex care needs of people with lung cancer across all stages of the patient’s pathway from diagnosis through treatment and follow up or end of life care, are key components of the posts. Organisational, time management and excellent communication skills are required.

What we'll need you to bring

1. Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration
2. Educated to Degree Level
3. Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards
4. Expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently
5. Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice
6. Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice
7. Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery
8. Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
9. The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
10. Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Effective time management skills
12. Working knowledge of basic information technology
13. Car Driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA drivers licence, must be able to travel
14. Ability to work varied shifts

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

15. Advanced Communication Skills / Training, Communication or Counselling Skills qualification / course
16. Commitment to lifelong learning and personal development plan
17. Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (V300)
18. Advanced Clinical Assessment & Decision Making Qualification
19. Accredited SACT course / module
20. Significant comprehensive post registration experience within relevant speciality
21. Experience of nurse led clinics, case management / case load holder
22. Experience of working with MDT
23. Experience as a CNS
24. Experience of undertaking audit and research
25. Can prioritise work and managing competing demands
26. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of national, regional and local cancer strategies / priorities

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist Team within University Hospital Monklands (travel to work at multiple sites across Lanarkshire's hospitals may be required)

The working pattern for this role Monday to Friday, 0800-1600 hours
