Job Description:
The opportunity
Due to the significant expansion of the UK Independence team, we are recruiting several Manager roles within the Personal Independence area of the team.
The roles are permanent, full-time positions based in Belfast, with some travel to London may be required. Prior Independence experience is desirable but not essential.
The Personal Independence Team supports EY Partners and client-facing professionals to ensure their personal investments and relationships comply with EY’s Independence policies and external regulations, including those from the UK Financial Reporting Council, US Securities and Exchange Commission, and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants.
This team, currently based in London, is expanding to form a new function in Belfast, providing an exciting opportunity to be part of this growth.
Your key responsibilities
* Manage and oversee the Belfast-based team daily.
* Set targets and monitor team performance and progress.
* Serve as the first point of contact for queries from junior team members.
* Recruit and train new joiners.
* Operate a helpdesk/support function for Independence-related queries.
* Collaborate with the London-based team to ensure seamless stakeholder and internal client support.
* Manage EY systems, processes, and procedures, ensuring compliance with ISQM1 standards and quality delivery.
* Respond to regulatory requests and practice review findings, preparing reports and action plans, then implementing actions.
* Work directly with new hires to ensure compliance with Independence requirements before onboarding.
* Support Independence Partners and Directors on related activities.
To qualify for the role, you must:
* Be currently at manager level in a risk or compliance role with team management experience.
* Lead, coach, and guide junior team members effectively.
* Have excellent communication skills, especially in delivering sensitive messages to senior leaders.
* Take a proactive, commercial approach to resolving independence challenges while ensuring compliance.
* Possess strong project management skills, capable of meeting deadlines under pressure.
* Use initiative and demonstrate strategic thinking and analytical skills.
* Be adaptable, flexible, and committed to providing exceptional support.
The following would be an advantage:
* Experience implementing and operating new processes in a support center environment.
* Knowledge of Ethics and Independence standards under UK FRC, IESBA, and US SEC regulations (not essential).
* Understanding of Risk Management environments.
What we offer
* Continuous learning: Develop skills to navigate future challenges.
* Success as defined by you: Access tools and flexibility to make a meaningful impact.
* Transformative leadership: Gain insights, coaching, and confidence to lead effectively.
* Diverse and inclusive culture: Be embraced for who you are and empowered to use your voice.
