Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of dynamic and experienced community paediatricians in a progressive department at County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves providing consultant input into the child development and neuro‑developmental service, conducting initial health assessments for children in care, and developing the service as a medical adviser for adoption and fostering.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver holistic, multi‑disciplinary care to children with developmental disorders and complex health needs.
* Collaborate with community nurses, paediatric therapists, child psychologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Work with primary care, education, and social services to provide health advice within the Special Education Needs and Disability assessment process.
* Support statutory services, including initial health assessments for Children in Care and safeguarding assessments.
* Contribute to service development, departmental clinical governance, and annual appraisals for GMC revalidation.
* Participate in postgraduate training and support paediatric trainees.
* Teach and audit quality improvement projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Full registration and licence to practice with the General Medical Council or eligibility if currently working overseas.
* CCT/CCST or equivalent accreditation in community paediatrics, or equivalent training and experience.
* MRCP, MRCPCH or equivalent.
* Partnership with intercollegiate guidelines: Level 3 training in child protection/safeguarding.
* Experience in general paediatrics and paediatric neuro‑developmental medicine.
* Strong clinical, teaching, auditing and leadership skills.
Desirable
* Sheffield neuro‑disability diploma or equivalent experience.
* PET level 1, 2 & 3 qualifications.
* Experience in neuro‑disability clinics (cerebral palsy, neurometabolic conditions).
* Research and publication record in relevant areas.
