C&YP Social Worker – MASH

Job Title: Children’s Social Worker – MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub)

Salary: HC8 £36,363 - £40,777 (plus £5,000 market rate supplement per year £41,363 - £45,777)

Welcome payment: £10,000 (see attached guidance)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week

Location: Hereford

Relocation package of up to £10,000 available

The Role

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a real passion for safeguarding and early intervention? Do you thrive in fast‑paced environments where your decisions genuinely improve children’s lives? If so, we want you to join our established Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in Herefordshire.


Responsibilities

* Analyse referrals from partners, parents and carers
* Identify risks and needs using Herefordshire’s Level of Need guidance
* Provide clear, practical advice to families at the earliest opportunity
* Work closely with police, health, education and early help partners
* Ensure children are safe, their welfare is promoted, and timely support is in place

You’ll be part of a supportive, skilled and stable team where reflective practice, critical thinking and professional curiosity are genuinely valued. Expect regular supervision, manageable caseloads, and strong peer support. We also invest in you through our Social Work Academy, providing high‑quality training and CPD to help you grow and excel throughout your career.


About You

* Minimum of two years post ASYE year experience as a social worker
* Proven MASH experience within statutory children’s services
* Able to effectively engage with families, analyse information from a range of partner agencies, and make timely recommendations in accordance with level of needs
* Good level of social work experience, knowledge and skills with frontline experience working with children, young people and their families
* Strong written and analytical skills
* Committed to improving the lives of children and young people, prioritising their safety, wellbeing, and potential
* Skilled at building positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues, carers, families, and key stakeholders
* Dedicated to promoting resilience, emotional wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children in care
* Confident in managing complex cases and making informed, child‑focused decisions
* Enthusiastic about contributing to a supportive, professional team environment and committed to ongoing professional development
* Registered with Social Work England and hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
