The Duty Officer role will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the market and associated service sites. Working closely with the management team to support the delivery of a sustainable, vibrant trading environment for businesses and the public while undertaking a wide range of operational duties in a modern, new market to include supervising and coordinating the work of market staff to ensure efficient, safe and customer focused service delivery.
We have a full time and part time post available.

The candidate will be a key member of the Markets team, and will play an important role in keeping the new market running smoothly, safely and successfully.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Managing the day to day operations of the market
2. Supervising and supporting market staff, ensuring duties are allocated effectively and high standards of cleanliness and safety are maintained
3. Planning daily workloads and ensuring all operational tasks are completed to a high standard
4. Acting as the first point of contact for staff, traders and members of the public, dealing with complaints professionally and promptly
5. Ensuring traders comply with market rules and regulations and supporting staff in monitoring and addressing issues
6. Handling key administration to include trader accounts, invoicing, fees and charges in line with Council policies and maintaining accurate records for licenses and market documentation
7. Scheduling rotas for market staff
We are looking for a candidate who is organised and proactive with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities day to day, confident in supervising staff and coordinating workloads, to be customer focused with strong communication skills and a professional approach to resolving issues and comfortable working flexibly, including evenings and weekends as part of a rota. Experience in a market, retail, facilities or operational environment is desirable although not essential. A positive attitude, initiative and commitment matter most.
