The Warm Homes Plan, published January 2026 shows the UK’s governments £15bn investment into providing millions of homes within the UK upgrades to help achieve NetZero. We are looking to employ fully qualified Electricians who will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with UK regulations across Walsall on social housing properties. You will also be responsible for installing mechanical ventilation and background ventilations in properties. The role requires full compliance with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), MCS standards, and relevant Building Regulations and strictly must be installed inline with manufacturer instructions.
Key Responsibilities
* Install and commission solar PV systems
* Install mechanical ventilation and background ventilation in properties when required.
* Wire and connect inverters, generation meters, isolators, and consumer units
* Install DC and AC cabling in line with BS 7671 requirements
* Perform inspection, testing, and certification of PV installations
* Complete Electrical Installation Certificates (EIC) & Minor Works Certificates.
* Carry out fault-finding on solar PV systems and associated equipment when required.
* Integrate battery storage systems (where applicable)
* Ensure compliance with G98 / G99 grid connection requirements
* Conduct system performance checks and commissioning tests
* Maintain high standards of health & safety on site
* Connect monitoring systems and hand over to customers.
Required Qualifications & Certifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
* 2391 or equivalent Inspection & Testing – preferred
* Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems
* CSCS or equivalent (preferred)
* Full Valid UK Driving Licence
Experience Requirements
* Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in domestic electrical installations
* Proven experience installing solar PV systems (desirable)
* Familiarity with battery storage systems
Technical Knowledge
* BS 7671 (18th Edition)
* IET Code of Practice for Grid-Connected Solar PV Systems
* MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) standards
* Knowledge of earthing and bonding requirements
* Safe isolation procedures
· Salary range From £39,000 negotiable depending on experience
