We’re seeking tutors to support children in care across the Tameside area, offering personalised one-to-one tuition that truly changes lives. These young people often face significant challenges and may be out of school for a range of reasons, including trauma, disrupted education, or additional learning needs. Your role will be to provide calm, consistent, and focused support—helping them engage with learning at their own pace and building the confidence they need to progress. Tuition takes place either in the pupil’s home or in a local public setting such as a library. Sessions are tailored to each child’s ability, and many are working below age-related expectations in English and Maths. We’re looking for tutors who: Have QTS or strong experience in education or youth support Are confident delivering sessions one-to-one, especially to vulnerable learners Understand how to create a nurturing, trauma-informed environment Can adapt their approach depending on the learner’s needs and ability level Are committed to improving life chances for children who need it most What you can expect: Hourly pay of £25–£30 (PAYE, weekly pay) Flexible working hours within the school day Regular referrals across the OL6 and wider Tameside area Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant Access to CPD and development opportunities This role is ideal for experienced teachers, tutors, support staff or youth workers with a passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to education. You’ll be delivering more than lessons—you’ll be offering stability, trust, and the chance for young people to feel seen and supported. If you're ready to use your skills in a meaningful way, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today with your CV to find out more. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
