Design / Project Engineer (Subsea) – Aberdeen
We’re supporting our retained client is a rapidly expanding Subsea Engineering Specialist Solutions Provider to appoint an experienced Project Engineer (Subsea) to join their high‑growth team.
This role is central to delivering complex subsea tooling projects, combining hands‑on engineering, structured project management, and client‑facing technical leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong subsea design experience, ideally including ROV/Tooling, and thrives in a fast‑paced environment where innovation, safety and delivery excellence are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Project delivery — Lead new subsea tool builds and live engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Design engineering — Develop innovative mechanical solutions for subsea operations.
- Technical execution — Support technical and administrative tasks for the Head of Engineering.
- Cost & schedule control — Manage budgets and ensure on‑time delivery.
- Documentation — Produce engineering procedures, test packs and bid‑support materials.
- Peer review — Review engineering deliverables and contribute to design reviews.
- Client support — Provide technical input during tendering and proposals.
- Design verification — Create new designs and perform FEA to validate tooling.
- Offshore leadership — Significant offshore time to support operations.
- Equipment readiness — Prepare, modify and certify equipment.
- Diagnostics & repair — Test, diagnose and repair subsea equipment.
- HSE compliance — Report incidents and non‑conformances.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 6–10+ years in subsea or mechanical engineering.
- Strong mechanical & hydraulic capability.
- Proven problem‑solver with practical, workable solutions.
- Global travel flexibility, sometimes at short notice.
- Confident communicator; strong written and verbal skills.
- Independent and team‑oriented working style.
- Strong MS Office capability.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar).
Desirable
- Mechanical Engineering degree or similar.
- Subsea Oil & Gas experience.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and DNV standards.
- Subsea tooling background.
- Multi‑disciplinary subsea/energy project experience.
- Strong understanding of industry legislation and engineering practices.
