Business Support Officer (Minute taker)

Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full-time – Monday to Friday (08:30 – 17:00)
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
Role Summary
We are seeking experienced Minute Takers to provide high-quality business support, primarily for Safeguarding Conferences. This role involves attending face-to-face meetings with professionals and families, primarily located in Barnsley Town Centre and Darton Centre. Access to a vehicle or willingness to use public transport is essential. Occasional support may be required for other meetings within Business Support teams.
Key Responsibilities
Provide efficient, confidential administrative support to front-line and statutory services.
Minute Safeguarding and other key meetings with speed and accuracy using mobile IT devices.
Manage telephone and face-to-face enquiries; offer guidance and signposting.
Organise and coordinate meetings, appointments, and diaries.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong communication links.
Analyse and evaluate information to prepare clear reports for varied audiences.
Maintain and update electronic and paper-based systems.
Process financial tasks including orders, payments, and reconciliations.
Assist in improving business support systems and processes.
Stay updated with policies and regulations impacting service delivery.Essential Criteria -
Education & Training
Level 2 qualification in a relevant area.
Training in Microsoft Office.Experience
Business support experience in a professional setting.
Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
Minute-taking experience using mobile devices.
Experience preparing written and verbal reports.
Financial administration and problem-solving experience.Knowledge
Understanding of local and national government policies.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital systems.
Awareness of data protection, information governance, and health & safety.Skills & Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High accuracy in processing and safeguarding data.
Minute-taking skills with speed and attention to detail.
Emotional resilience in challenging or emotive settings.
Strong organisational and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Desirable Criteria
Knowledge of project management techniques.
