Job Description
This job description serves as a framework for Network Facilities Team roles and responsibilities. It is not an exhaustive list of all tasks Facilities Team members may undertake. The document aims to foster understanding of expectations. The ideal candidate is located in Eastern Massachusetts and/or Southern New Hampshire.
Role: Oversee new system and infrastructure installation, capacity augmentation projects, and monthly capacity reporting for assigned facilities. Responsible for daily maintenance and preventive maintenance of FirstLight facilities, with additional tasks as assigned by management. This role combines responsibilities for data center processes and compliance activities.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate procurement, installation, repair, and routine maintenance of facility assets.
* Manage internal resources and coordinate with contractors/vendors for existing facilities and new constructions, including cabinet installations and service cross connections.
* Prepare monthly capacity reports for assigned facilities.
* Maintain documentation of all facilities/assets in SP Marketplace; proficiency with SP Marketplace is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform maintenance and installation of major network infrastructure components.
* Collaborate with Network Design Engineering to develop clear SOW packages and understand power, grounding, HVAC, and UPS fundamentals.
* Understand and troubleshoot using test equipment such as power, grounding, HVAC, and UPS testers.
* Understand access procedures for all relevant sites.
* Conduct preventative maintenance and reporting for infrastructure components like HVAC, generators, transfer switches, and remote generator sets.
* Oversee contract labor for infrastructure projects, including installation, testing, and turn-up.
* Participate in on-call rotation and be available as essential personnel during emergencies.
* Assist Field Operations with installation tasks when necessary.
* Complete special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
* Ability to read and interpret CLR’s, floor plans, and power diagrams.
* Experience with service order workflows and inventory control protocols, including use of SutiProcure (https://firstlight.sutiprocure.com/).
* Proficiency with SharePoint and troubleshooting processes.
* Knowledge of AC/DC power systems, utility and emergency power, and field test equipment.
* Familiarity with industry installation standards (e.g., Telcordia), cable management, and project planning.
* Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects within budget.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
Employees will frequently walk, sit, handle objects, and work with tools. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds, work in structures with stairs and ladders, and travel to various locations, including overnight travel. Work may involve exposure to moderate noise levels and all-weather conditions.
