A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Principal Civil Engineer to join a respected consultancy in Cardiff. This is a key position for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading projects, managing client relationships and delivering high quality civil engineering design across a wide range of development sectors. You will play a central role in the technical delivery of schemes while supporting the continued growth of the civil engineering team.
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will work closely with senior leadership to oversee project design, quality management and commercial performance. You will take responsibility for drainage, highway and civil infrastructure design to adoption standards, ensuring outputs are accurate, compliant and delivered on time. The role offers direct client engagement and the opportunity to mentor and develop junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and delivery of civil infrastructure, highways and drainage projects.
* Manage project quality, accuracy and compliance with adoption standards.
* Produce and review technical reports and design documentation.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships.
* Support and mentor junior members of the team.
* Contribute to commercial performance and project programming.
About You
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
* At least eight years experience delivering civil design projects.
* Chartered status desirable, or significant relevant experience.
* Proficient in MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication skills and confidence in client facing roles.
* Full UK driving licence.
