Overview
This is an opportunity for a senior manager to join the Digital Services team, taking a key leadership role in the effective management and delivery of the Trust's core clinical and business applications. The postholder will ensure that all software application projects and changes to live systems are planned and implemented in a controlled and effective manner, adhering to ITIL standards and the Digital Services Change Request Policy.
A primary focus of the role is to provide leadership to a specialist team, motivating staff and facilitating change. The successful candidate will work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including clinical staff, technical teams, and third-party suppliers, to ensure the Trust\'s systems deliver value and support patient care.
Main duties
The postholder will be accountable for managing changes to the Trust\'s live multi-user systems, ensuring they are implemented with minimal disruption and in line with the Digital Services Change Request process. This includes acting as a key contributor to the Change Advisory Board and ensuring the impact of changes is thoroughly assessed before deployment. The role involves developing and maintaining knowledge of hospital systems to advise on best use, and translating complex national information mandates for local implementation. Responsibilities include leading and developing the application management team, establishing them as subject matter experts on the use of applications. The Senior Product Manager will coordinate the incident management response for software failures, manage high-priority issues with suppliers, and maintain a forward schedule of change and product roadmaps.

Job description
Job responsibilities: The Senior Product Manager for Live Services is a senior role within the Digital Products function, responsible for the full lifecycle management of the Trust\'s core applications. The postholder provides leadership to the Applications Management Team, maximising efficiency and delivering a high-quality service. The role involves understanding business needs with managers and healthcare professionals, contributing to the Service Improvement Programme, and developing the Digital Services Annual Plan. Operationally, the postholder ensures all changes to live systems are implemented in a controlled manner, minimizing disruption, and works with technical teams to transition changes safely into the live environment. The manager coordinates incident management during software failures, ensures Root Cause Analysis after major incidents, and maintains documentation including release schedules and operational procedures. The role is based at the QMC campus with hybrid working and travel between campuses and nationally as required.
Qualifications and training
Essential
* Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or possess equivalent significant experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certificate.
Desirable
* Management or leadership qualification or equivalent experience.
* PRINCE2 Foundation or an equivalent project management qualification.
Experience

* Significant experience in the implementation, administration, and support of complex IT applications within a large and complex organisation.
* Experience in line managing technical staff, including workload management, appraisals, and performance management.
* Demonstrable experience of managing the full testing lifecycle, including the development of test plans and the coordination of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
* Experience of working within a formal IT Service Management framework (ITSM/ITIL), particularly in relation to change, incident, and problem management.
* Experience in managing relationships and communicating with third-party software suppliers.
