Overview
We are a temporary accommodation provider, specialising in offering accommodation to vulnerable adults with various support needs, from mental health and learning difficulties, to fleeing domestic violence and abuse. We are seeking reliable and hands-on Night Porters to join our team at a 12-bedroom temporary accommodation unit, operating in partnership with the local council.
The ideal candidate(s) will be working waking night shifts and taking responsibility for safety, cleanliness, and smooth running of the property.
Shifts will be 9pm - 6am; Monday - Sunday.
Responsibilities
* Follow all company policies, procedures, and health & safety guidelines
* Carry out night-time administrative duties: complete night sheets, book in out-of-hours residents, record notes, and handle basic computer tasks (including email)
* Build positive relationships with residents while maintaining professional boundaries
* Provide a mix of support, cleaning, basic repairs, reception duties, and security.
* Work independently during lone night and weekend shifts
* Recognise and report safeguarding concerns promptly
* Report and, where possible, assist with maintenance tasks
* Perform cleaning duties: tidy shared areas, clean kitchen after meals, iron linen during night shifts, deep clean bedrooms
* Use computer systems for booking in/out, writing reports, handovers, and updating HR software
* Maintain vigilance during night shifts, acting as security when required
Requirements
* Valid DBS
* Previous experience in cleaning, maintenance, security, facilities, or similar is desirable
* Practical repair and upkeep skills
* Able to work alone at night with resilience and reliability
* Good communication and record-keeping skills
* Professional and respectful approach to working with vulnerable people
* References from 2 previous employers
Pay: £12.21 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
Ability to commute/relocate:
* Southend-on-Sea SS1 2HR: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
