NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The role:

You need to have a General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration in order to be considered for this post.

The NHS GGC AMP Team are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist who is motivated, dynamic and keen to join them at the QEUH to support and deliver the GGC Antimicrobial Stewardship agenda. The post holder will form part of a multidisciplinary team providing an advanced clinical service, managing patients with confirmed or suspected infections, supporting inpatient care and the growing virtual hospital via the Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service.

This role will provide excellent opportunities for personal and professional development including leadership skills and enhanced specialist experience in antimicrobial stewardship.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

1. Queen Elizabeth University
2. The shift pattern for this post is Mondays & Fridays, and flexible working will be considered
3. Participation in weekend, public holiday and on-call rotas is required
4. Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
5. Fixed term or secondment for 1 year

Key responsibilities:

6. Providing clinical antimicrobial advice and promoting antimicrobial stewardship within GGC
7. Contributing to antimicrobial governance
8. Developing, implementing and evaluating antimicrobial guidelines
9. Proactively contributing to antimicrobial ward rounds
10. Providing clinical support to the GGC OPAT service
11. Proactively contributing to meetings e.g. the GGC Antimicrobial Utilisation Committee meetings
12. Developing and delivering junior doctor, pharmacist and nurse teaching on antimicrobials

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

The successful candidate must hold an MPharm degree (or equivalent), be registered with the GPhC and have (or be working towards) an independent prescribing qualification. The QEUH/ GGC AMP team will provide training, support and mentorship.
