Job Title: Platform Support Engineer
Location: Corsham, Wiltshire
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
Working: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote
Our Client
Our client is a secure IT solutions provider delivering complex infrastructure and platform services across high-security environments. Their work supports mission-critical systems and enterprise-level operations across defence, government, and regulated sectors. With a strong focus on security, compliance, and continuous improvement, they are seeking a skilled Platform Support Engineer to join their dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor enterprise platform infrastructure for performance and availability, responding swiftly to system alerts and incidents.
Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for technologies including Active Directory, SCCM, SolarWinds, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related issues, escalating to engineering teams where required.
Assist with patch management, system updates, and routine maintenance to uphold security and compliance standards.
Maintain support documentation such as troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles.
Collaborate with platform engineering teams on unified access devices (UADs), endpoint management, and virtualised environments.
Support the use and enhancement of automation scripts, workflows, and monitoring tools.
Contribute to root cause analysis and long-term issue resolution.
Analyse system performance and usage trends to aid capacity planning.
Recommend and support improvements to tools and operational processes.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support business continuity.
Experience
3+ years in platform or infrastructure support within enterprise environments.
Proficient in Active Directory, SCCM, SolarWinds, and VDI technologies.
Practical experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
Understanding of core networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls.
Exposure to virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V.
Familiar with IT monitoring tools and structured incident management frameworks.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) is advantageous.
Qualifications
Relevant certifications (e.g. MCSE, ITIL) are highly desirable.
Demonstrated commitment to continued learning in platform engineering and support practices.
