Lead (metal) liaison advisor - water quality

Washington (Tyne and Wear)
Northumbrian Water
Will advisor
Posted: 4 December
Offer description

About the role

We’re excited to welcome a Lead Liaison Advisor into our busy Water Quality team, a team that plays a vital role in demonstrating that Northumbrian Water meet all regulatory standards for drinking water quality. This is a role where your work will have a direct and visible impact on our customers and communities.

As our Lead Liaison Advisor, you will help maintain and strengthen the positive reputation of Northumbrian Water throughout the delivery of the Lead Pipe Replacement Programme. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the project’s communications strategy and stakeholder management plan are delivered effectively, offering trusted technical advice and guidance on lead pipe risk to colleagues, customers and partners.

Working closely with the Project Delivery Team, you will build and maintain an in‑depth understanding of the programme, spending time on site to support delivery and provide informed, confident advice. Your role will also involve helping to identify potential programme candidates through data analysis and collaboration with external agencies, ensuring we reach the right homes and communities.

This is a great opportunity to combine technical understanding, communication skills and community impact in a role where no two days are the same and where the work you do will support safer, better-quality drinking water for the region.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, motivation and the ability to work independently while managing their own time with confidence. You’ll need strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle priorities effectively. Experience in a customer‑facing role is important, as you’ll be building meaningful relationships with a range of stakeholders and communicating complex information clearly and positively.

You should be comfortable interpreting data, analysing information and championing data quality to support effective decision‑making. An understanding of water distribution systems and experience supporting project delivery would be an advantage, although not essential if you can demonstrate the right mindset and transferable skills.

We’re looking for someone who can confidently consult with and influence stakeholders, even when working under pressure. The ability to present to larger groups would be beneficial, as you will occasionally be required to do so as part of the role. Above all, we want someone who is committed to making a difference, someone who wants to play a part in improving outcomes for our communities and supporting the success of the Lead Pipe Replacement Programme.

A full driving licence is essential for this role.
