Location: Yorkshire Region (Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield, York, Hull). Remote working with regular travel to Yorkshire Water sites (typically 2–3 days a week).
Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
Project Engineer Electrical – Join the Engineering Team at Yorkshire Water to help deliver high‑quality, safe services to over 5.4 million residents and visitors.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, deploy and test business‑critical electrical services in areas such as:
o Instrumentation
o PLC & HMI/LOI systems
o SCADA systems
o Site data networks
* Lead projects technically and financially, ensuring delivery of best value and alignment with business requirements.
* Ensure projects meet quality, standards, specifications and statutory legislation, including Health and Safety and Construction Design Management (CDM) requirements, acting as Principal Contractor where appropriate.
* Follow a formal customer handover process for all projects.
* Support creation and modification of assets to produce safe, compliant, reliable and affordable outcomes aligned with operational risk.
* Provide technical input into short‑ and long‑term strategic planning.
Qualifications
* Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent apprenticeship; HNC, BTEC or ONC in Electrical Engineering accepted.
* Broad experience with electrical and ICA equipment, capable of engineering solutions to business risks.
* Qualifications and experience to facilitate YW Electrical Authorisation (LV).
* Capability to evaluate, recommend and challenge the use of PLC, HMI, SCADA, telemetry and instruments commonly used on YW sites.
* Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA and instrumentation issues, with understanding of change control.
* Strong grasp of CSRM principles and CDM practice.
* Current valid driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.
Desirable Attributes
* Strong workload management and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to collaborate with equipment manufacturers to identify improvements.
* Understanding of onsite risk and construction risk.
* Investigation, reporting and communication proficiency.
