Location: Haverfordwest Area
Hours of work: 19 hours per week: Monday 10:00 – 19:30 (9.5 hours) and Saturday 10:00 – 19:30 (9.5 hours)
Rate of pay: 12.60 per hour
Reporting to: The Direct Payments Recipient. The Direct Payments Recipient is the employer, and the recipient holds all employer responsibilities associated with this role. Pembrokeshire County Council supports them to fulfil their employer obligations.
Introduction: Are you a patient, caring person who would relish the opportunity to make a difference in somebody’s life? The role involves helping a vibrant young man enjoy life, explore the local community and meet new people, while ensuring his personal needs are met. Experience supporting young people who have disabilities is essential. This post is funded through Direct Payments by the local authority to enable the young man and his family to manage their support independently by employing assistants. This schedule is Monday 10:00 – 19:30 and Saturday 10:00 – 19:30.
Main Duties
* Provide companionship by good interaction and by exploring this man’s interests and getting to know his likes and dislikes.
* Give him support where necessary to research, plan, coordinate and arrange activities and outings within the community that interest him.
* Support and prompt him to book activities or communicate with relevant organisations to arrange outings.
* Support and encourage him to participate in new, fun and interesting activities that interest him.
* Prompt him to try new activities and skills to improve his confidence, abilities and satisfaction.
* Support him to strike up new conversations, take an interest in making friends and participate fully in group activities.
* Preparation of light snacks may be required. Support and steady whilst going to the toilet.
* Ensure safety at all times during your working period; constant supervision is required as knowledge of hazards is limited.
* Take him on trips by car and attend his holiday breaks when required.
* Local knowledge of activities is advantageous, as hours worked will be off-site within the community.

Other requirements
* A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required
* You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
