Job Title: Locum Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics
Location: North Manchester General Hospital

Reports to: Clinical Lead, T&O
Contract Type: Locum (fixed-term / ad hoc)
Hours: Full-time, 48 hours per week (varied rota including long days, nights, weekends, and nights)
Job Summary:
North Manchester General Hospital is seeking a motivated and experienced Locum Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics to join our dynamic team. This role focuses on the management of acute trauma as well as elective orthopaedic cases, supporting both the emergency and elective surgical services.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality, consultant-led trauma and orthopaedic care.
Participate fully in the on-call rota, including long days, night shifts, and weekend work.
Conduct theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, trauma meetings, and ward rounds.
Supervise and train junior doctors and multidisciplinary staff.
Engage in departmental audits, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
Contribute to strategic planning and service development within the department.
Clinical Duties:
Inpatient and emergency trauma management.
Orthopaedic elective procedures (if applicable).
Regular trauma lists and fracture clinics.
Active involvement in teaching, training, and MDT meetings.

Person Specification:
Full GMC registration with license to practise FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent
Broad T&O experience including trauma surgery NHS locum consultant experience
Excellent teamworking and leadership skills Involvement in teaching and audit
ALS/ATLS certification Familiarity with Cerner/EPRO system
Remuneration:
Highly competitive hourly/daily rates (DOE)
