Overview
Overall Purpose of the Post: To ensure that the academy is a well-maintained, safe and secure site for all users.
Responsibilities
* Supervise the Site Supervisor and Cleaning staff in the absence of the Facilities Manager;
* Opening and closing of the academy premises including gates, doors, windows, fire exits etc. for the purpose of academy use, lettings, functions, maintenance and emergency services;
* Regularly checking the proper operation of alarms and fire equipment, ensuring emergency exits are not obscured;
* Manage lettings in line with procedure, ensuring licensing justices are met, facilities are fit for purpose and assistance is given to those in need;
* Assist the Facilities Manager in ensuring cover in the event of sickness and absence including holiday leave;
* Moving of academy furniture as required with due regard to current Health and Safety and Lifting and Handling regulations;
* Ensure access for emergency services, assist as necessary and secure premises as required;
* Regularly inspect and report all defects including electrical and gas, plumbing, buildings and security to the Facilities Manager;
* Undertake minor repairs to fixtures and fittings and report items that need to be replaced;
* Order and maintain stock of hygiene materials;
* Accept deliveries of post, materials and other goods and ensure they are passed to the correct department;
* Inspect and maintain outdoor areas including litter bins, spillages, drains and gullies;
* Clear leaves, snow, ice, moss and detritus as appropriate including treatment of surfaces with salt etc.;
* Assist Facilities Manager with Portable Appliance Testing of all electrical equipment in designated areas ensuring Health and Safety Legislation is followed;

Job Description
Assist Facilities Manager in implementation of risk management programme for Legionella.
Additional Responsibilities
* Deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the academy’s policies and procedures;
* Respect confidential issues linked to home/students/teacher/academy work following the Trust’s Data Protection and Freedom of Information Policy;
* Fire Marshall duties in the case of fire and/or emergency evacuation where applicable;
* To comply with the academy’s Child Safeguarding Procedures, including regular liaison with the academy’s Designated Child Safeguarding Person over any safeguarding issues or concerns;
* To comply with the academy policies and procedures at all times;
* Undertake other reasonable duties (with competence and experience) as requested, in accordance with the changing needs of the organisation.
