Our Transport Management Team in each Depot are integral to the success of our business in ensuring quality across all aspects of the transport business, from a people management and a fleet management perspective.
This role will be working a 4on 4off rolling shift pattern reporting to the Depot Transport Manager. All shifts are 12 hour shifts commencing at 7am.
Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Daily liaison with drivers
* Efficiently and accurately despatching drivers with all relevant paperwork and information.
* Toolbox talk delivery
* Monitoring driving behaviour and coaching drivers to achieve improvements in the occurrences of harsh events / speeding etc
* Manage an efficient and robust driver roster, working with the TM to find ways to increase area utilisation and efficiency
* Recruitment of new drivers as required
* Monitor Driver hours, conduct regular tacho spot checks
* Manage driver Infringements
* Monitor driver certifications and licences and liaise with the Training department to ensure all required training is undertaken on a timely basis
* Ensure all transport related documents are properly completed as appropriate
* Ensure all PODs are complete and filed appropriately to ensure a seamless invoicing process.
* Assist with the Company's drive towards paperless solutions.
* Monitor vehicle cleanliness and vehicle checks
* Ensuring adherence to the service schedule
* Ensuring all vehicles have all appropriate kit including truck folders
* Actively promote a safety culture within the Depot through actions and words.
* Assist with investigations and disciplinaries into non compliances and any related paperwork.
* Liaise with customers as required regarding daily delivery schedules etc
* Deputise for the Transport Manager during holiday periods.
* Answering the phone, dealing with queries from both drivers, customers and colleagues.
* Any other ad hoc duties as required for the smooth running of the Depot Operation
Key Skills required:
* A team player with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Demonstrable administration skills with strong attention to detail
* An approachable and reliable attitude
* Experience working in a busy Transport office (fuels experience desirable but not essential)
* Strong communication and customer service skills, written and verbal.
* Ability to prioritise, work independently when required but also be able to work as part of a team.
* Knowledge of the WTD, drivers hours, tachograph and Transport Legislation preferable
* Transport Managers CPC (or working towards) would be an advantage.
* Strong IT skills across MS Office
