We design, manufacture, install and service pumping solutions in both safe and hazardous areas for a wide range of industries. Typical project values range from £50,000 to £5 million.
We have an opportunity for an organised and professional Purchasing Manager to join our team on a permanent basis.
Position Summary
The Purchasing Manager will primarily be responsible for:
* Managing a team of purchasing specialists and the stores function to ensure the delivery of goods, equipment and services to the required standards of quality, cost and delivery.
* Develop and implement a robust purchasing strategy that supports business objectives.
* Develop a thorough understanding of the supply chain to ensure on-time, in-full delivery at the best possible cost, and to manage requests for tender related to parts, equipment, and services.
* Manage and develop the processes and systems to deliver seamless departmental flow from supplier development to item delivery.
* Full responsibility for inventory, ensuring effective processes are in place for goods receipt and dispatch, accurate inventory management, safe storage of materials, and the timely availability of components for workshop build.
Main Duties:
* Purchasing:
* Co-ordinate, support and develop the project responsible buyers to ensure professional and competent support to Project Managers.
* Strategically manage supplier capacity for fluctuating workloads across all projects.
* Ensure the timely delivery of goods, parts, equipment etc. to ensure the workshop team can achieve build deadlines.
* Be able to challenge engineering to highlight where the supply chain may come up with alternative options that could positively impact projects.
* Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor performance.
* Minimise waste and unnecessary costs and ensure projects are completed within budget.
* Prepare quotation and contract documentation and review quotation and contract submissions.
* Ensure all procedures are in accordance with Company approved standards and industry regulations. Make sure parts ordered are fit for purpose and components meet relevant standards including Norsok, ATEX and CSA.
Main Duties:
* Stores Management:
* Full responsibility for inventory including ensuring that physical and system inventory are accurate and match.
* In conjunction with Project Manager, control project stock (overflow from previous jobs).
* Full responsibility for stock take including all relevant policies. This includes the timely closing down of projects in conjunction with Project Managers.
Preferred Skills, Competencies & Experience:
* Degree/CIPS qualified (or equivalent).
* Proven experience in procurement and purchasing management in a bespoke engineering product environment.
* Hands-on experience with purchasing software and systems.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of bespoke capital engineering projects including P&ID’s, welding procedures and the ability to read engineering drawings.
* High pressure pump, rotating equipment and offshore requirements experience (an advantage, but not essential).
* You will have the ability to communicate with people at all levels of business and establish good working relationships with a wide range of people both internally and externally.
Personal traits - The jobholder should:
* Have the ability to analyse data and make strategic purchasing decisions.
* Be able to effectively manage financial and physical resources and administrative requirements.
* Hold a full car driving licence.
