Within the Digital Training Team, you will be part of a wider team that provides end‑user system training, application support and system testing for the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and other related systems at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and associated organisations. As a specialist within our training team, you will establish and manage training provision to ensure administrative, nursing and clinical staff successfully complete the required system training to undertake their roles and responsibilities within the Trust. Your role will encompass the full training and development cycle – from identification of training needs, development of courseware for classroom/on‑line training, design and development of electronic learning materials, face‑to‑face training delivery and training evaluation. You will also be involved in mentoring. The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues in the Trust on specific projects to create and deliver effective training provision. Close cooperation will be necessary with other teams such as the EPR Projects Team; the EPR Transformation Team; the Culture and Leadership Service; Divisional Directorates and Suppliers; to ensure efficient use of resources and prioritisation of training programmes. In addition to system training skills and experience, familiarity with NHS administrative and clinical workflows, Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems, and Microsoft 365 applications would be advantageous for this role.
Responsibilities
* Supervises students carrying out practical work, advising and assisting where necessary, and ensuring that maximum learning benefit is gained from the practical experience.
* Provides detailed instruction as necessary and responds to wide‑range and detailed questioning in own area(s) of specialisation.
* Assesses objectively, probably against pre‑set criteria, the ability levels of students and reports as appropriate.
* Develops examples and case study material for use in pre‑defined courses. Adapts simple course material to meet the needs of students.
* Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution, analysing complex problem situations to determine underlying causes and helping users to recover or continue operation.
* Ensures that requests are handled according to agreed procedures. For unresolved incidents, provides an effective interface between users and service providers supplying all necessary diagnostic information.
* Uses judgement to set priority for resolution, monitor progress and apply escalation procedures for unresolved incidents, ensuring that documentation of supported components is available and accessible to all who need to use it.
* Proposes, discusses and evaluates potential solutions with service providers and implements agreed field modifications or workarounds as directed.
* Liaises with systems development staff or software suppliers on the development of system enhancements to overcome known problems or further fulfil user requirements.
* Uses in‑depth technical analysis of both functional and non‑functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, performance and portability) to determine test requirements. Specifies requirements for environment, data, resources and tools.
