Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division – a new era of mobile repair. Our Service, Maintenance & Repair division delivers planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members from their driveway to their workplace car park.
Role Highlights
* 24‑hour base salary of £40,178, with on‑target earnings up to £52,000.
* Guaranteed overtime option to boost earnings.
* Full‑time 40 hours per week (core hours 8:30‑5:00, 1 in 4 Saturdays).
Responsibilities
Your day starts with a clear digital schedule. Each job is pre‑booked, and the member is expecting you.
* Routine servicing.
* Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
* In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop.
* Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
* Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
SMR is structured – you work through scheduled jobs, not reactive breakdowns.
Requirements
* Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
* A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
