Job Title: Class 2 HGV Driver – Sainsbury's Local Deliveries
Location: Charlton, Thameside (or other regional depots)

Shift Pattern: Day Shifts (Start Times: Between 05:00-08:00), working on a 4 week rota, 4 days, 4 days, 5 days, 4 days = 170 hrs per 4 week

Job Purpose:
To deliver goods safely and efficiently to Sainsbury's convenience stores using a Class 2 vehicle. This role ensures timely deliveries, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with transport regulations. Drivers play a vital role in supporting store operations, representing Wincanton Dedicated Grocery professionally, and contributing to overall supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities:
* Operate a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle in accordance with road safety and company standards.
* Carry out multi-drop deliveries to Sainsbury's convenience stores and regional distribution centres (RDCs).
* Safely unload caged or palletised goods using tail lift and kerbside delivery methods.
* Ensure all delivery documentation is accurately completed, signed, and returned.
* Collect empty cages, returns, or agreed waste materials from stores.
* Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
* Deliver excellent customer service, acting as a professional representative of Wincanton Dedicated Grocery and Sainsbury's.
* Comply with tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation, and company transport policies.
* Attend all mandatory training sessions and maintain up-to-date CPC certification.

Candidate Requirements:
* Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
* Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph card.
* Minimum of 12 months HGV driving experience.
* Drug & Alcohol Test at Interview Stage
* Clean driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
* Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
* Experience in retail or commercial delivery environments is desirable.
* Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
