About the Role
The Zero Emissions Transport Applications Group at WMG is dedicated to research and development in the field of industrial and transport decarbonisation. We are seeking an ambitious Lead Engineer to conduct in‑depth research in systems‑level energy modelling of industrial sites, transport hubs, and transport decarbonisation technologies. The role involves developing novel methodology for incorporating transport energy modelling, industrial energy modelling, on‑ and off‑board vehicle technologies, charging systems, energy storage and energy management into the research programme to support decision‑making processes.
About You
The ideal candidate should possess a good honours degree in a relevant subject, and significant experience in system and energy modelling methodologies and tools (e.g. Matlab Simulink, Modelica, Python) for industrial decarbonisation across multiple sectors. Knowledge of application of energy modelling at a system level to a relevant industrial sector, including the ability to recommend cost‑effective efficiency and emissions improvements, is required. Successful candidates will deliver rapid, commercially focused results and possess well‑honed problem‑solving skills.
Responsibilities
* Contribute to the technical delivery of research projects.
* Develop and contribute towards the project plan and reporting, requiring good effective communication (oral and written) skills, presentation and training abilities.
* Utilise experience and understanding of technologies for industrial decarbonisation across a range of technologies for various sectors.
* Interact with current and prospective industry partners to support the development of new and existing research proposals.
