Overview
Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The role will be based at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple, with the option for cross-site working at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford) in Exeter. The closing date is 26 October 2025.

Job responsibilities
* Provide expert care across the full scope of obstetrics and gynaecology, from routine procedures to challenging cases.
* Lead and participate in theatre sessions; develop subspecialty interests (including fetal medicine).
* Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate education with protected teaching time.
* Participate in clinical research and service development with supported facilities and staff.
* Drive service innovation and quality improvement projects across the Trust.
* Contribute to a 1:8 on-call rota with cross-site option if desired.
* Support leadership development and advanced training opportunities.
About the department
North Devon Obstetrics and Gynaecology is a close-knit team of eight consultants in Barnstaple, with 19 colleagues in Exeter and cross-site working options. Facilities include dedicated obstetric and gynaecology theatres, a Level 1 Neonatal Unit, and comprehensive maternity and gynaecology services.

Person specification
Applicants must hold:
* Full GMC registration
* Entry on the Specialist Register (or within six months of CCT at time of interview)
* MRCOG or equivalent
* Evidence of clinical competence and experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Working pattern: 10 programmed activities (PAs). Interview date: to be confirmed.
